Southern San Joaquin Valley Field Trial at Spanish Ranch October 2012
Southern San Joaquin Valley Brittany Club Field Trial held at Spanish Ranch in New Cuyama CA on October 20th thru 22nd. A fantastic weekend of watching Brittanys in the field. The mornings were cool leading to hot afternoons and cool evenings. Joe Gower resurrected the So. San Joaquin Brittany Club holding the first field trial in a few years. It was a treat to have a dog wagon to watch all the braces. Wagon drivers, Tom White voted the smoothest driver, Joe Gower also did a great job providing commentary along the route about our judges, handlers and with Janet Fullwood's prompting a tale of medicinal herb qualities of the local plants of course totally fiction. Kyle Hodges did a fantastic job first time behind the wheel. Wayne Hale and the Doiron brothers did a bit of driving too. Everybody pitched in to help release dogs, get dogs on the dog wagon etc. Evenings were filled with stories, laughter and wonderful meals. Thanks to Dan and Pam Doiron for hosting the trial at their spectatular Spanish Ranch. A few of the Brittanys played nice for the photographer going on point near the road for some wonderful photo ops. Our Oscar, Brigade's Oscar De La Britt MH did a wonderful job earning 4th in AGD and his bracemate the beautiful little Calli owned by the Horstmeyer-Whites placed 3rd. It is wonderful to be able to see my dogs and competitors Brittanys do a wonderful job. The Brittany of the weekend was Joe Gower's Patch winning Open Derby, Open Gun Dog and Amateur Gun Dog which is phenomenal for a 17 month old. Congratulations to all the winners.
